It's hard to believe that I've already received two inquires for 2017. But when it comes to certain venues, and vendors they've been booking into 2017 for months already.

What's the rush? Certain venues have become a hot commodity in the area. Barns featuring their versatile, rustic-vintage-classy look have been booking into 2017 since 2014. Does this mean you need to be engaged for 3 years? I'm not so sure.

Thankfully we have enough barns in the area that though, your first pick might be taken a year out, you still should have a few other options. Plus, by 2017 the rustic craze might be over and beautiful garden receptions might be the next hit. The same thing goes for different vendors. I know a handful of photographers who are booking into 2017 already, but for the most part, there are so many photographers out there that after meeting with a few (which you should) at least one would have your date available 8-12 months out.

What does this mean for Patchwork Planning? I am a planner. So when it comes to knowing what I'm going to be doing, I would prefer to know as far in advance as possible, even if it means 2017. Frankly, most brides who've started planning their wedding won't realize they can't execute their vision of their wedding day by themselves until 2-3 months before the big day. And that's okay. But that's when, for us, we might have to refer you to another planner because we're already booked. Just engaged? That might be a good time to give us a call, even if you just want to know more about our day of coordination services.

Point of the blog. Book early. It's going to save you time, money, and not to mention your frustration (after you realize your favorite venue is booked for your date). We have an extensive list of Venues and Vendors we love to work with. Are you just putting your toes in the water for this whole planning process? That's a good place to start, along with getting in touch with us of course.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
